News TOM GAGE JOINS NUS Industry veteran Tom Gage of Omaha, Nebraska joined NUS in September, 2010 as Executive Vice President. Tom’s successful track record, strong client relationships, and industry knowledge are a great addition to the NUS management team. Tom will continue to reside in Omaha and will operate a regional office there to expand NUS clientele, business opportunities, and resources; (email: tgage@nus1.com or direct number: 402-614-9330). NO-PPO PLAN INTRODUCED BY NUS In May of 2010, NUS introduced the Green Star Plan to several TPA’s that participated in the initial studies to develop the Plan. Based on Medicare Plus pricing, no provider or network contracts are needed, thus eliminating the quagmire of PPO problems and ineffective discounts. NUS utilizes Green Star Services to handle re-pricing of claims, participant assistance/advocacy, and medical management services for all clients, including a customized Plan Document for the Green Star Plan written and supported by the Phia Group (see below). Pricing is very competitive in most instances and claims savings are substantial to the Plan. For detailed information contact Dana Driscoll, National Marketing Director at ddriscoll@nus1.com or direct number: 903-872-7728). The PHIA GROUP ENDORSED BY NUS The Phia Group (www.PhiaGroup.com) provides Plan Document services to NUS for the Green Star Plan (noted above), and has agreed to provide services to our clients in traditional stop loss arrangements as well. The Phia Group has become one of the most innovative and fastest growing cost containment firms in the nation, with their mission to reduce the cost of plans through recovery strategies, innovative technologies, legal expertise, and focused, flexible customer service. THE NOBLE GUARDIAN PROGRAM ENDORSED BY NUS NUS recommends the Noble Guardian (www.noble-guardian.com) program for comprehensive bill review services and strategies for self-funded employer groups to control large claims costs. NUS’ stop loss carriers have reviewed and approved the Noble Guardian program. Average bill review savings are 40-50% or more off of billed charges. There is no fixed cost for the program to the employer and a discount off specific rates is given for full implementation of the program to include appropriate plan document provisions. Noble Guardian provides complete support to the Client for pushback or appeals.
