News NOBLE GUARDIAN PROGRAM ENDORSED BY NUS NUS utilizes the Noble Guardian program for comprehensive bill review services and strategies for self-funded employer groups to control large claims costs. NUS worked with the stop loss carriers to obtain claims, underwriting, and legal review of the Noble Guardian program with subsequent approval by our carriers. NUS provides TPA clients with educational information to advise their clients of the program including 1) recommended plan language and compliance with ERISA and 2) line item medical bill reviews by CMAS certified auditors to assure fair payments to providers and prevent excessive ones. In addition to a complete bill review package, each client receives full documentation for notifications to the Provider, employer and plan participant to assure the integrity of the bill review and appeal process and to create a firewall for the participant to prevent them from provider balance billing problems. In the few instances of a legitimate ERISA 503 Appeal from a Provider, Noble Guardian assists the Plan in following the ERISA “rules of review” providing support to facilitate further review and decisions to conclusion of the Appeal process. The Noble Guardian bill review savings averages 40-50% or more off of billed charges. There is no fixed cost for the program to the employer and a discount off specific rates is given for full implementation of the program to include appropriate plan document provisions. NUS feels this program can set the TPA client apart from competition and typical “spreadsheet thinking” when the employer is educated about the potential savings in claims dollars coupled with the protection afforded by ERISA law.
